In 2000, Gene Magre received the prestigious Lilly Award from the Rancho Santa Fe Association for his excellence, passion and commitment in the preservation and restoration of Historic Rancho Santa Fe.
In October of 2008, the Rancho Santa Review wrote an article about Historic Ranch’s Fire Prevention Division entitled "Fire victim makes prevention his business", describing how Gene became involved in fire prevention.
In July of 2008, the Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society presented Magre with an award thanking him for his leadership in the rehabilitation of the 1923 Lillian Rice designed La Fetcha House. Gene has been a recurrent Rancho Santa Fe Board Member since 1994 and is a current Board Member.
For the 2008 year, Historic Ranch was issued an award for the Best of Rancho Santa Fe Building Contractors.
